Hatha Yoga>Asana>Gomukhasana:As this Asana resembles the face of a cow it is called Gomukhasana. There are different variations in this Asana.
Procedure :Put the right heel at left side of waist, i.e. right knee is placed on the top of left knee and left heel touches the right side of waist. This is Gomukhasana discribed in Haha Yoga Pradipike. Hands must be in Brahmamudra i.e., putting right hand on left hand. Or bring the right hand downward over right shoulder, bring the left hand from the left side of waist. Join the right hand and left hand. Benefits :Gomukhasana strengthens trapezoidal muscles and chest. It prevents the formation of calcium in joints of shoulders and knees. This Asana prevents bursitis (It is the inflammation of one or more bursae of synovial fluid in the body.). It prevents the formation of calcium in the joints of knees and shoulders. Important use of this Asana lies in the strengthening of muscles of shoulders and legs. |
