Makarasana (Posture of Crocodile)ProcedureThis posture resembles Crocodile. Lie on the ground with face down. Lift the head and shoulders and put the face in the hands. Put the elbows on the ground. Elbows should be below the neck. If the elbows is near the chest there will be pressure on the lower back. If the elbow is placed distant from the chest there will be pressure on the neck. If you feel stiffness in the back is released then it is the best position. Close the eyes and relax the body completely. BreathingBreathing should be natural and rhythmic. Attention:Attention should be on the breathing and lower-back. Attention should be also on relaxing the body. Spiritual aspirants should concentrate on the Manipura Chakra. CautionPersons who have backpain should discontinue the practice of this Asana if they feel pain while doing this Asana. BenifitsThis Asana cures slipped disc, Sciatica, lower-back pain and other ailments of the back. Persons having back problems should do this Asana for long time. |
