Surya-bhedha PranayamaSit in a comfortable Yogasana i.e. Padmasana, Vajrasana, Sukhasana, Swastikasana. Inhale (Puraka) through right nostril. Do Jalandhara Bandha,Mula Bandha with retention of breath (Kumbhaka). Exhale through the left nostril, gradually releasing the bandhas. Perform Uddiyana Bandha at the end of Exhalation. As this Pranayama is done with the right nostril, it is called Suryabhedhana Pranayama. Benefits of Suryabhedhana Pranayama:As this Pranayama is done through the right nostril increases the body-heat. This Pranayama cures the diseases caused by the excess of Kapha and Vata. It cures several types of headaches, ailments of throat, indigestion. This pranayama destroys the interstinal worms. It reverses the process of aging. If this Pranayama is done without Kumbhaka, stamina of the body is improved, and activity of the heart is increased. This Pranayama is helpful in the awakening of Kundalini power. |
