Ujjayi PranayamaSit firmly in Padmasana, Swastikasana, Siddhasana or any comfirtable meditative Posture. Slowly inhale through both the nostrils. Inhale upto the heart from throat. Do Puraka (inhalation) with a low noise. After Puraka perform Jalandhara Bandha and Mula Bandha. After Kumbhaka release both the Bandhas, lift the head slowly, close the right nostril with right thumb and exhale (Rechaka) slowly with the left nostril. At the end of Rechaka perform Uddiyana Bandha. Some Yoga experts prefers making a low noise while doing the Rechaka also. This is one round of Ujjayi Pranayama. The ratio of Puraka, Kumbhaka and Rechaka should be in the proportion of 1:4:2 . In the beginning start with 5 Prananyamas. It can be increased up to 15 to 20 Pranayama. This pranayama can be performed while standing also. Benefits of Ujjayi Pranayam:By the practice of this pranayama cough, Asthma, Tonsilitis, Diphtheria, heart problems, Dysentery and several other diseases are cured. Temperature in the head is reduced by the practice of Ujjayi Pranayama. Body becomes very beautiful. All the defects of lungs are cured. |
